Janis grew up in the suburbs of Melbourne, and still had no idea what career she wanted to pursue even after putting in her preferences for university courses. Janis was always been interested in the sciences, but didn’t know where this could take her so enrolled in a combined engineering/science degree assuming she’d figure it out along the way. This decision lead her to Gladstone where she now works as a process engineer for Queensland Alumina Limited.
Janis is passionate about inspiring young people to pursue STEM career pathways, even though they might be daunted by the challenge. Janis hasn’t always found her journey easy, but she believes that it’s worth persevering through the difficult times, so that she can make a lasting and satisfying difference to the world through her STEM career. If she can do it, anyone can!
